DEMONSTRATORS CALL FOR RELEASE OF ERITREAN PRISONERS OF CONSCIENCE
Supporters of five religious freedom organisations yesterday protested peacefully outside the Eritrean Embassy in London against human rights violations in Eritrea.
Over 80 supporters of Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), Release Eritrea (RE), Church in Chains (Ireland), Open Doors and Release International took part in the demonstration, which culminated in the presentation of a letter calling for the release of all prisoners held without charge or trial, including up to 3000 Christians.
The protest was briefly marred when a male government supporter tried to assault a photographer, while his female counterpart harassed some of the demonstrators and was moved on by police. Others filmed participants from the Embassy’s windows.

A prominent church in an ongoing struggle with the authorities in Belarus has been told by city authorities that they must legally transfer the property to the government and vacate the building before Monday. Posted by Administrator
New Life Church, which has become an emblematic case in the battle for religious freedom in Belarus, was notified by the Property Maintenance and Repair Department (PMRD) of the Moscow District of the City of Minsk that if they do not comply by 1 June, the city will “undertake necessary measures to settle the case” including the use of state security officers to enforce their decision.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) is delighted to announce its participation in a new website calling for the release of Burma’s democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, and all of Burma’s political prisoners. Posted by Administrator
Launching today with the backing of major celebrities and a coalition of NGOs, the website will become the global hub of the international campaign to release Aung San Suu Kyi.
The launch coincides with the day that, according to the Burmese regime, Aung San Suu Kyi’s house arrest expires. The UN has already ruled that her detention is illegal.

Killowen Primary School, Lisburn are officially the ‘Tesco and Action Renewables Green Primary of the Year’. Fighting off stiff competition from over 300 schools in Northern Ireland, they have been awarded this prestigious title as part of a new initiative launched this year by Tesco and Action Renewables.Posted by Administrator
The judges had an extremely difficult task and commented on the high quality of entries. They said of the winners, “Killowen has a brilliant eco-calendar of events and a real effort is made from all students across all activities,”

Also available on this morning, plant, cake and book sale and childrens crafts.
All proceeds towards Relay for Life in aid of Cancer Research.
The team are staff and friends of Dromore High School. This is our third year taking part in the Relay event, naming ourselves, The Dolly Mixtures. Banbridge Relay for Life event takes place from Saturday 13th at 10am through to 10am Sunday 14th, in Banbridge Rugby Club.
Already this year we have sold balloons for Valentines and Mother's Day, pampered ourselves with a Virgin Vie Party and had a chocolate fountain at Dromore Amatures Youth Football Club (DAYFC) fun day.
