How It Started

Nathan & Annmarie Asiimwe pioneered Shine FM. They both work full-time as volunteers with Youth With A Mission, Northern Ireland. In November 1996, they were seeking God together and He spoke to them and said "I want you in Media and Broadcasting. It is to be a ministry of love, forgiveness and reconciliation."

A key scripture that God gave them as a basis for this ministry was: Isaiah 60:1-2 "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you."

They felt that God was calling His people to rise up to their destiny in Christ and shine. This was the inspiration for Shine FM.

In 1998, He provided a way for them to get training to complement Nathan's background in Church Planting and Bible Teaching and Annmarie's background in Electronic Engineering and Youth Work.

After three years of praying for this vision, they were joined by a team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers and Shine FM hit the airwaves of the Banbridge District and surrounding areas for the first time from 11 Dec '99 to 7 Jan 2000.
